Russia’s prime minister has pledged a response to what he called Georgia’s “aggressive actions” against South Ossetia.

Vladimir Putin was speaking in Beijing where he is attending the opening of the Olympic Games.

Calling on colleagues in the Commonwealth of Independent States to give their assessment, he said: “All of us have to do our best to stop the bloodshed.”
