China eyes Repsol Argentina deal

China’s largest oil company, CNPC, is in talks to buy 75 per cent of Spanish counterpart Repsol’s Argentinian arm. No firm details have been released, but the deal could be worth up to 14,5 billion dollars as China continues its aggressive pursuit of foreign energy assets. CNPC has yet to formalise its bid, and faces competition from other Chinese companies and from India and Russia.
