One week after the start of the World Cup, many are asking whether South Africans’ expectations are being met.

In one Johannesburg market euronews visited, people said they were happy with the number of customers so far. And even if the disappointing results so far for the South African team have dampened spirits slightly, the focus is on the positive.

One man said: “The World Cup for me is something that is really bringing South Africans together. Not to look into any conflicts or what so ever. I just wish that my African brothers can see the other side of living together instead of fighting.”

Another man said: “If Bafana Bafana were going to win there would be some changes. But because the team is not playing higher, people are down now.”

But with all the foreign fans in South Africa, there is a party to put on, even if the local team Bafana Bafana is yet to shine.
