Nepal crash leaves no survivors

Retrieval of passengers’ remains in Nepal’s remote Mount Everest region continues. When their craft went down in bad weather, all 14 people on board the German-built turboprop were killed.

Eight of the dead were Nepalese, four were American, one was British and one Japanese, officials said.

The private Agni Air plane went down near Shikharpur village, about 80 kilometers south of Katmandu, capital of Nepal. There had been heavy rain. The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed there were no survivors. Local media said the plane disintegrated on impact with a hillside.

Thousands of tourists fly to climb and trek around here every year, but few during the current monsoon season.
