Crackdown tightens in Belarus

Two more opponents of Belarus’s President Lukashenko have been put on trial. Both ran against him in the December the 19th election, and both were charged along with four other activists of “organising action that violated public order.”

Another electoral rival has already been put on trial, two more are in the legal pipeline, and another has fled to the Czech republic.
