Spaniards angered by the handling of their country’s economic crisis have voted to continue occupying central squares in several cities across the country.

On Sunday night, people in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol voted to keep their encampment going. Protesters in Barcelona also voted to continue, despite police intervention last Friday.

Hundreds of people gathered in the Place de la Bastille in Paris on Sunday, but were moved on by riot police. Activists have also occupied Sytagma Square in the centre of Athens.

Campaigners say a pan-European day of protest has been set for 19 June.
