Former All Blacks legend Jonah Lomu has been discharged from hospital just over two weeks after being admitted for kidney failure.

Days after featuring in the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony on September 9, Lomu was rushed to hospital after falling ill.

Lomu, who still holds the record for most tries at the World Cup, with 15 in total, was taken to a hospital in Auckland where he was being treated to repair the kidney that was donated to him.

The 36-year-old was diagnosed in 1995 with the rare kidney disorder nephrotic syndrome and underwent a transplant nine years later.
