Greek finance minister Evangelos Venizelos made a final appeal for support in parliament on Wednesday, where he asked deputies to back the new austerity measures.
But in the streets outside, the Greek people were equally keen to make sure that their voice was also heard.
The tens of thousands of protesters will be hoping that this show of strength will be enough to convince deputies to say no to the two bills being proposed.
