After many weeks of fighting the former rebels celebrate their victory, although after constant bombardment, by land and air the city lays in ruins.
An ordinary drainage pipe in the city, has now taken on a greater significance, as people come from miles around to see the final hiding place of Colonel Gaddafi.
There were celebrations too in Tripoli where people took to the streets, happy to see the back of the tyrant.
The Libyan people should now see a quick recovery with the help of international aid.
After 42 years of tyranny the people now see a bright future ahead of them.
