Only a few days after defeating France 8-7 at Eden Park, the All Blacks, led by captain Richie McCaw, were named Team of the Year at the International Rugby Board Awards in Auckland.

Accepting the award, McCaw said: “Every single man from one to 30 did their part, so I think we have a bunch of men that are really proud and made a lot of New Zealanders very proud.”

Despite losing in the final, France captain Thierry Dusautoir was given the Player of the Year award while New Zealand coach Graham Henry was named Coach of the Year for the fifth time.

Dusautoir was magnanimous as he told Richie McCaw:  “I know that you had a lot of pressure on your shoulders all this year and I am happy for you and for your mates.”
