British Airways to buy BMI

British Airways is buying BMI from Lufthansa for just over 200-million euros, shutting out rival bidder Virgin Atlantic.

The deal still needs to be approved by the regulators.

Although BMI is making a loss at the moment, BA’s owners were keen to get their hands its landing slots at London’s Heathrow.

The deal would give BA’s owners more than half of the airport’s daily landing and take-off allocation.
