Real Madrid triumph in El Clásico

Sami Khedira scored one and Cristiano Ronaldo took his tally to a record breaking 42 league goals to help Real Madrid beat Arch rivals Barcelona 2-1 and move closer to winning the La Liga title for a first time in four years.

Khedira put the visitors in front on 17 minutes when the Germany midfielder took advantage of a dropped ball by Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The Camp Nou erupted with 20 minutes left when substitute Alexis Sanchez scrambled the ball in for the
equaliser.

But you could hear a pin drop three minutes later when Mesut Ozil’s superb pass released Ronaldo on the right before the Portuguese International smashing it home for the winner.

It was the Catalan’s first defeat at the Camp Nou in their last 35 home matches while Madrid’s win has left them seven points clear with just four games left to go.
