Big election losses for Greece’s two main parties

Results in Greece’s elections suggest the two main parties have suffered big losses.
 
Greece’s Conservative New Democracy party is leading in the exit polls but they are still short of parliamentary majority.
 
Centre-right New Democracy is in the lead with 20 per cent, down from 33 per cent in 2009.
 
Centre-left Pasok is in second place with 16 per cent, down from 44 per cent in the last elections. Syriza, a left-wing coalition, is in third place with 1 per cent.
 
For the first time the far right Golden Dawn party could enter parliament if the exit poll prediction of it winning around 7 percent becomes a reality the party could secure around 21 seats in parliament.
 
If there are not enough votes to form a government, the winner will have to seek a coalition with rivals.
