Quebec’s parliament passes tough protest law

Quebec’s provincial government has passed an emergency law aimed at quelling the longest student protests in Canada’s history.

Demonstrations against tuition fee hikes have been gone on for 14 weeks.

The law will shut universities early, fine those who block classes, and restrict the length and location of rallies.
