Spain has elbowed Greece out of the spotlight. The concerns over its ability to survive fiscally have been growing everywhere, except in Madrid. The Spanish government said it does not intend to ask for international help, but that may mean it is up to the Spanish people to come to the rescue.

We discuss Spain’s limited options with Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, strategist at ING Investment management in The Hague.

Also in programme: a new crisis in Southern Europe involving olive oil and US economic growth disappoints American economists, even though the numbers would be good by European standards.
