Arab League in new Syria plea

world news

A Norwegian TV crew and a UN convoy were caught in the crossfire in Syria as government troops came under attack in a Damascus suburb.

The convoy fled the scene. UN officers say they believe rocket propelled grenades were used.

Meanwhile, the Arab League is calling for a time limit on the UN mission to avoid further bloodshed.

The Qatari Prime Minister, Hamad Bin Jassim Al-Thani, urged the Security Council to implement Kofi Annan’s peace plan under UN articles that would allow for a far greater isolation of Damascus – but said he was not calling for force.

More amateur video – which is impossible to verify – purports to show renewed shelling in Homs while Annan warned the danger of all-out war in the country was growing daily.
