The Czech Republic qualified for the quarter-finals of the European championships for the third time on Saturday night following a 1-0 win over co-hosts Poland in a dramatic final round of matches in group A.

Petr Jiracek hit the all-important winner at the City Stadium in Wroclaw on 72 minutes to hand the Euro 96 finalists a place in the last eight – the result means Poland are eliminated.
