2004 champions Greece stunned Group A favourites Russia 1-0 on Saturday to join the Czech Republic in the Euro 2012 quarters-finals.

Despite Russia dominating the majority of play at the National Stadium in Warsaw midfielder Giorgos Karagounis’s first half stoppage-time goal went unanswered giving Greece a dramatic and surprise victory.

It’s only the second time Greece have made it past the group stage – the last time they progressed they went all the way.

Russia meanwhile were left down and out of the competition.
