Takeover denial hits Vodafone shares The mobile phone group Vodafone looks certain to have won its bid for Britain’s fixed-line operator Cable and Wireless Worldwide, after CWW’s biggest shareholder dropped its opposition.
Institutional investor Orbis said it would now accept the 38 pence – or 47 euro cents – per share after learning that 59 per cent of shareholders had already agreed.
The 19 per cent that Orbis owns will tip Vodafone over the 75 per cent needed.
