Europe’s leaders prepare for crucial summit

Pre-summit talks have been going on among Europe’s leaders ahead of yet another EU get-together billed as crucial to solving the euro crisis.

The finance ministers of the euro zone’s four biggest economies have already met, but while they discussed closer long-term fiscal and banking integration as a remedy, Cyprus became the fifth country to ask for a bailout.

And on the eve of the Brussels summit, Germany’s Chancellor was meeting the French president in Paris to try and square their different positions.

Growth versus fiscal discipline and which one should come first – that is the question.
