The Spanish designer Leandro Cano’s final touches paid off at Berlin Fashion Week. His attention to detail helped him win the 2012 “Designer For Tomorrow” award ahead of four other contenders.

HUGO showed outfits marked by contrasts, combining precise design with floating material, modern styles that mixed a minimalist look with luxury. Shining metallic materials dominated the mens’ and womens’ collections.

And the German label Marc Cain went on a flight of fancy for its maiden appearance at Berlin Fashion Week, with the theme “Magical Birds.” Models walked around an oversized bird cage sporting tinted caged birds as accessories, combining luminescent fabric with flashy coloured plumage.
