A man, thought to have been living in a forest on the Austria-Slovenia border for several months, has been arrested by police.

The 27-year-old German national is suspected of breaking into chalet buildings.

An Austrian police officer confirmed that investigations were being carried out into a series of burglaries, which happened in Koralm, in the border area.

The man reportedly lived with a woman, who gave birth in the forest. The mother and child are understood to have been located in Austria.

Police said the man recently converted to Islam and that he was not suspected of any terrorism links.
