Jerusalem scuffles Thousands of Palestinians have made their way to Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque, to take part in prayers on the third Friday of Ramadan.
Some stormed barriers at a Bethlehem checkpoint, amid tight Israeli security.
Israel imposed an age restriction for men, with only those over 40 and under 12 being allowed to enter.
Many Palestinians residing in the West Bank were turned back.
The controls are described by Palestinians as a collective punishment. They complain that access to holy sites, especially during Ramadan, should be guaranteed by Israel.
According to Israeli police, the restrictions are imposed for security reasons. They also say that controls are more relaxed than in previous years.
