Torrential rain has triggered severe flooding in the Philippines capital Manila.

Dams and rivers have overflowed in the city and nine surrounding provinces.

Government offices, schools and the stock exchange are all closed.

Tens of thousands of people have been forced out of their homes, while others have been trapped inside.

In some areas, water levels have reached over people’s heads. Rescue teams are busy helping those left stranded.

Days of sustained rains across the Philippines have left more than 50 people dead. In all, a quarter of a million residents have been evacuated.
