Afghan police shoot three US soldiers

Three US special forces soldiers have been killed by Afghan security.

It is believed the American troops were invited to dinner on Thursday night, then shot by an Afghan police commander and other members of the Afghan local police in the Sarwan Qala area of Helmand province.

The killings appear to have been planned, but NATO says it is too early to say whether it was a rogue shooting or carried out by insurgents infiltrators.

NATO figures reveal a further 28 people have been killed in these type of attacks by Afghan forces on foreign troops – known as green on blue shootings – since January.
