Shocking video has emerged on social network websites purporting to show Syrian rebels throwing government fighters from a tall building near Aleppo.

Euronews has cut the video, but some viewers might still find the images disturbing.

It is claimed that these pictures were taken at the post office at Al-Bab, north east of Aleppo, which has seen some of the most intense fighting of the past month.

It is impossible to independently verify the claims that the perpetrators were opposed to the Assad regime, although atrocities by the rebels have been reported in the past as well as others committed by government forces.

The Syrian opposition claimed ten youths were summarily executed by pro-Assad forces in Homs, again a claim that is impossible to verify.

In the capital Damascus, UN observers left their headquarters to continue their mission that has been severely curtailed because of the fighting and the failure of international peace efforts.

An Arab League meeting scheduled to pick a replacement for special Syrian envoy Kofi Annan has been postponed because the Saudi foreign minister could not be present as he was undergoing minor surgery.
